Our 60/30/10 matching model uses the video’s current Elo to balance close matchups with higher- and lower-rated opponents. It gives the similar-Elo zone a 60% selection probability, the higher-Elo zone 30%, and the lower-Elo zone 10%.

Approved videos entered in Duels or Both form the matching pool. Videos with fewer recorded duel appearances are prioritised, and the selection also aims to avoid showing the same performers repeatedly.

Matching chooses the pair. The community decides how the two performances compare.

The 60/30/10 model selects an Elo range relative to the starting video. Each range has a different selection probability:

Most selections stay close in Elo, while others bring a higher- or lower-rated opponent into the mix.

If the selected zone has no eligible videos, the search falls back to within 200 Elo points in either direction. The available videos therefore affect the final mix.

These percentages describe the zone selection—not a fixed sequence of ten duels or a prediction of who will win.

Judges choose A or B for Musicality, Skills and Expression. Each criterion is decided by a strict majority of votes.

A duel counts towards the win record once all three criteria have a clear result. Winning two or three criteria gives the overall win. A tied criterion, or one with no votes, leaves the overall result undecided.

The result describes how the community voted on these performances.

Elo compares a voting outcome with what the current ratings would predict. A choice in favour of a lower-rated performance gives it a larger increase than an expected result against a lower-rated opponent.

DanceDuels tracks Elo separately for Musicality, Skills and Expression. These criterion scores update as valid duel votes are recorded.

Elo updates from individual criterion votes. Your win record counts community-decided duels, and a duel is counted only when all three criteria have clear results.

The two figures describe different parts of the competition, so they do not update in exactly the same way.

Your All-Time position is based on your highest-Elo eligible video in the relevant ranking. A video becomes eligible once it has at least one community-decided duel with all three criteria resolved.

The duel count beside your position includes your completed duels across videos. Equal Elo scores share a position, using competition ranking: 1, 2, 2, 4.

This Week ranks individual videos and starts fresh every Monday. All-Time follows your longer-term standing as a dancer and continues from week to week.

Rivalry records and Dance Journey milestones keep the history of your participation.

We begin on Open Floor, where styles meet. Style-specific pools open as their communities grow; the current opening threshold is 40 dancers and 80 videos.

When too few eligible videos are available, the matcher can broaden a style or pool filter. In normal pools it keeps Solo and Partner separate. Open Floor is the deliberate exception and can mix both.

Each judge can submit one vote per criterion in a duel. Votes are tied to the signed-in account, and duplicate submissions are rejected by the server.

This prevents the same account from counting the same criterion vote twice. It is a specific safeguard, rather than a guarantee against every form of misuse.
